The Day I Interviewed My Mailman (and Laughed More Than I Should Have)

Interview someone — a friend, another blogger, your mother, the mailman — and write a post based on their responses.

"Funny interview with a mailman full of laughter and unexpected moments
A lighthearted moment – when an ordinary mail delivery turned into an unforgettable funny interview.

You know how people say, “Everyone has a story”? Well, I decided to test that theory on the most unexpected person in my life — my mailman. Yep, the guy who delivers my bills (ugh), my online shopping regrets, and the occasional surprise parcel that makes me question, “Did I really order this at 2 AM?”

So, one sunny morning, I stopped him mid-route with a notebook in hand. He looked suspicious at first, probably thinking I was about to complain about late deliveries, but when I said, “I want to interview you for my blog,” he lit up like a Christmas tree. And oh boy, the answers were golden.

Me: “What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever delivered?”

Mailman: “A box that meowed. Not a toy, not electronics — a real cat. The sender poked holes in the box and wrote ‘FRAGILE: ALIVE.’ I thought I was in a cartoon!”

Me: “Do people treat you nicely?”

Mailman: “Mostly yes… until I deliver electricity bills. Suddenly I’m public enemy number one. I swear, people look at me like I personally used their AC for 12 hours straight.”

Me: “What’s the biggest perk of your job?”

Mailman: “Free exercise. Who needs a gym when you’re running away from dogs every other day?”

Me: “And the worst part?”

Mailman: “When someone asks me to carry a 20-kg package upstairs. Do I look like Superman? I barely survived last week’s ‘dumbbells delivery’ incident.”

By the end, I was laughing so hard that I almost forgot I still had a pile of unopened bills in my hand. Honestly, this little conversation reminded me that humor lives everywhere — even in the daily grind of someone who literally delivers our daily grind.

So next time you see your mailman (or anyone doing a “regular” job), ask them a fun question. You might just get answers better than your favorite comedy show.

Moral of the story:

Interview people around you. Life’s funniest punchlines don’t always come from TV — sometimes they come with a postmark.
